I like reading… so one of my New Year Resolutions (yes, I know it’s a bit early) will be to read all of the following: 28 out of 100 read so far! 1. The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkien 2. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen 3. His Dark Materials, Philip Pullman 4. The Hitchhiker’s  [ Read More ]

I really like astronomy, and I’d recommend that everyone take a look at astropix (aka. Astronomy Picture of the Day) from time to time. Today’s picture is lovely: The Mysterious Cone Nebula, as was the picture from the Rosette Nebula from a few days ago. It’s my standard “homepage” at this stage. Also a note  [ Read More ]

Now Reading…

To say that I am an avid reader is possibly an understatement. My parent’s used to comment that I eat books and there always seemed to be 4 or 5 lying about at any time… so why not share? I looked for a neat plugin for WP and I found one, Roblog’s “Now Reading”, had  [ Read More ]

Helped me sort out the millions of copies of files I had  [ Read More ]

I thought I had my windows partition mounting fine, used: sudo mount /dev/sda2 /media/windows/ -t ntfs -o nls=utf8,umask=0222 After having created the /media/windows dir It appeared fine and then I added the line to the fstab : /dev/sda2 /media/winodws ntfs nls=utf8,umask=0222 0 0 But on reboot it didn’t appear.. the problem? Yes, I can’t spell.  [ Read More ]

I have an old 3G IPod, ok, well it’s 2 years old, that makes it old in tech terms. No click wheel, etc. How would Ubuntu like it? Well I left my firewire connector back at college, so I was relying on my USB connector, fingers crossed I plugged it in. 10 seconds later it  [ Read More ]

colorzilla

Posted by fio 0 Comment

I didn’t realise just how much I relied on the colorzilla plugin until I started using Ubuntu…. it doesn’t work in linux! This is quite upsetting and I can’t find anything that seems to be a replacement or alternative! It’s a nice little plugin that allows you to pick the colour of any section of  [ Read More ]
